JumpStart aims to improve child health by helping Early Learning Centers become partners in promoting healthy behaviors.

JumpStart focuses on improving 4 domains of Child Health:

  1. Nutrition and Physical Activity
  2. Family Mental Health
  3. Safety and Injury Prevention
  4. Access to a Medical Home

To achieve these goals, JumpStart provides each center with a "Health Coach," a non-medical professional who is trained to improve the health of early learning centers. The Coach provides the center with 3 types of services:

  1. Child-health Consultation for the center director.
  2. Health-promotion Training in each health domain for all center staff.
  3. Health-promotion Material (including classroom curricula, recommended menus, hand sanitizers, and mental/medical health resource information) to make the center a healthier environment for children.
